A photographer can preserve a moment and a place by using a combination of artistic vision and technical tools. Each image has a special meaning for me. For each, I can recall the light, the changing weather, and the unique photographic aspects of the scene. Oregon and the west are magical places to capture the extraordinary beauty in simple natural things.
I see the world photographically in black and white, though recently I have begun to make some color images. The majority of my photographs are made with a large format 4x5 camera, but I also use medium format film and a 35mm format digital camera. My procedure is to use the best instrument for the subject. For landscapes and nature, the 4x5 is my first choice; for more difficult conditions or slightly faster working speed medium format or digital works well; for action work, such as birds or for color, digital is best.
I hope you enjoy the photographs. Please feel free to send me an email with any comments or criticisms.
